FAQs
How will you be able to help my problem without touching it?
This is a great question. While hands on treatment can be wonderful, it is rarely, if ever, essential. This is because we can use exercises, stretches and self treatment techniques to get the same effect! The most important part of recovery is what you are doing to help yourself.
What do I need to do a video consultation?
A reliable internet connection
A camera, portable is best such as an iPad. It is not impossible on a desktop, but not ideal.
Privacy
Some space around you to do exercises
Clothing that enables visualisation of your affected area.
Shouldn’t I just see my insurance-funded PT?
Some insurers overseas will pay for your telehealth physiotherapy with Dr Mike and this is worth checking.
Health insurers are multi-billion dollar entities that deliver large profits to shareholders. We find the quality of care in this system leaves a lot to be desired, and many PTs operating under insurance systems are not trained in nonsurgical care.
The average cost of ACL surgery in the USA is around $40K USD. A successful non-surgical program typically costs less than $2-3000. We believe money spent on high quality healthcare is money well spent.
Do I need any equipment?
The following are recommended:
Dumbbells
Foam roller
Massage cream
Yoga mat
